Why Attend Shift UX 2026?

Why a new UX conference in 2026?

UX has never been more needed, but the titles, roles, teams, and metrics built around it are stuck in the past and don’t match what the market seems to be asking for—which is why demand looks like it’s shrinking. UX is shifting from being associated with job titles to a widely practiced way of solving problems. Titled jobs are vanishing even as more people than ever do the work itself. Shift UX is where we’ll gather to make sense of the shift, set aside reactivity, and start taking control of our future—as a field and as individuals who practice UX.

Working at an agency, consultancy, or enterprise team?

  • Update your skillset by delving into four forward-focused practice pillars that resist automation: strategic research, sensemaking, operations as orchestration, and human-centered tooling
  • Dig into the intersections between those areas to expose new opportunities and innovations that UX people are well-positioned to address
  • Get language that makes your skills visible and valued

Leading or managing a UX organization?

  • Begin rethinking and reframing your team’s skillset, structure, job roles, and metrics
  • Meet talent that’s already experienced with blurred roles and new goals
  • Connect with peers redesigning their own orgs at our UX Leadership Salon, led by Peter Merholz

Pivoting to coaching, consulting, teaching, or specializing?

  • Explore how your experience and soft skills translate into new kinds of fulfilling roles
  • Prepare to support the work of the growing number of informal and “accidental” UX practitioners who will desperately need your expertise
  • Upskill in expert-led workshops built for these transitions
